This book was an excellent, clean
romance with a healing message of
hope and redemption, and I can't
wait to read the next book in the
series!

The story pulled me in right away
and held my attention. I mean,
who can't keep reading after a
dude gets pepper-sprayed in a
parking garage?

Not only is the story fabulous, but
she must have done a TON of
research. Not being Jewish, I had
no idea how a Jewish wedding or
bat mitzvah worked. I now feel like
I have been to both.

I love the faith content in this
series. As always, it's heavy hitting
and makes the reader examine
their own faith walk while
simultaneously reminding us that
nothing can separate us from the
love of God.

Women who've suffered trauma
and abuse as depicted in B'rit
Hadasha need stories like this to
give us hope....I deeply appreciate
that Ana Waters writes these
books; they've helped give me a
voice and shown I'm not alone.

Old family secrets come to light, and Rebecca battles rumors and threats designed to keep her silent. Meanwhile, Ted must fight for Rebecca and against his own doubts about God. Rebecca's unwavering faith in Jesus confounds and intrigues Ted, but will it be enough to give them a tabula rasa (blank slate) to erase the past and create a new story of their own?

steady faithfulness cannot be ignored. As Taylor allows her heart to

Ex Nihilo: Learning to Live Again

swoops back in spouting new religious beliefs and says he wants his
family back. At the same time, the pale green eyes of Joe Trautweig

medieval fiction and its tales of courtly love as an escape from real life,
but she suddenly finds herself as the heroine in her own story of
romance, intrigue, betrayal, and redemption. Either man Poppy
chooses brings her toward a holy book she’s never understood, and it
challenges her own beliefs about God. Ultimately, Poppy must decide if
repairing what’s been broken (

Ana Waters is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia with a B.A. in Religion and
specific emphasis in Judaic and Biblical studies. She penned her first romance novel at the age of
twelve, and she has never stopped writing the same books she loves to read. She lives outside of
Atlanta, GA with her brood of precocious children, finding joy in the absurdities of life and
motherhood

As an abuse survivor and advocate, Ana's novels address topics like spiritual and emotional trauma
from the perspective of healing. Too many victims have been marginalized and shamed into silence.
Likewise, trauma is typically glossed over within the inspirational fiction/romance genre. Not
anymore! The books provide terms for abuse tactics, validation for survivors, and a message of hope
that abuse doesn't get to ruin the rest of your life. Romance serves as part of the healing journey rather
than a magic eraser.

There are six completed novels in the Beauty for Ashes series, and Ana is currently working on #7!!!
She’s also brainstorming ideas for her next series and considering a return to her comedic/parody
roots. The sky’s the limit!

She’s thrilled to offer her novels in paperback, ebook, and kindle formats with audio coming soon!

About the Author

Proverbs 31:8-9 NLT

Speak up for those who cannot speak for
themselves; ensure justice for those being
crushed. Yes, speak up for the poor and
helpless, and see that they get justice.

I cradled my phone against my neck as I chatted with my just friend. “You forget that only my ex is allowed to move on and be happy with the real love of his life,” I said,
mocking his nauseating epithet for Stephanie. “I’m apparently supposed to wallow for the rest of my days regretting the divorce and envying her.”

Jon laughed. “If Stephanie is truly the love of his life, then I feel sorry for him. Rick’s an idiot, and you deserve so much better than how he treated you.”

“Wow,” I breathed.

“What? It’s true, Charlotte.”

“Well, you…I just…you’ve never said it like that before.”

“Have I finally rendered you mute? I think there should be an awards ceremony for this momentous occasion. I don’t even have a speech prepared.”

“I guess you’ve got on your sassy pants tonight, Mr. Roseman. I like it.”

I could hear the smile in his tone. “They are rather sassy tonight, aren’t they?”

“What are they made of? Sparkles? Sequins? Satin?”

“Hardly,” he deadpanned, “and I doubt they would compare to yours.”

I paused, realizing this wasn’t the first time it felt like our friendly banter had shifted into something more. “Jon?”

His tone changed from humor to immediate concern. “Everything okay?”

“Were you flirting just now?”

“Flirting?”

“Yeah, you know that thing that people always accuse me of doing, even though I’m just a ridiculously charming individual with an extensive vocabulary.”

“Can I answer your question by asking you a question?” he replied.

I didn’t realize I’d been holding my breath until my lungs burned for oxygen. I inhaled deeply and tried for a neutral tone. “I guess, yeah.”

“If I was flirting, would you be okay with that?”

“I thought we were friends.”

“Technically, you’re the one who calls us just friends and has to mention it in every conversation we have.”

“What are you saying? I mean, my girls tease me about you. Lauren teases me about you. They all act like you’re interested in me, and I’m just too blind to see it.”

The prolonged silence on the phone line spoke volumes, and I faltered.

He released a heavy breath. “Yes, I was flirting with you. I’ve been flirting with you for months, but you either don’t see it or ignore it.”

“Well, why on earth did you go on a date with Susie Q tonight if you’ve been flirting with me?”

“Why do you think?” He huffed out a laugh. “The woman I’d actually like to go out with says she only thinks of me as a friend, but she’s the one person I want to talk to
every night before I go to bed. She’s the first person I want to talk to when I wake up in the morning. This wasn’t the way I planned to tell you, but yes, Charlotte, I have
more than friendly feelings for you. Unfortunately, I don’t have much hope you’ll ever take me out of the friend zone.”

“So, you’ve been doing what exactly? Waiting in the wings for me to catch feelings back?”

“Are you saying it’s impossible?” he asked, his voice tight. “You’re happy to get the emotional lift from our phone calls and texts, but that’s it?”

“I never said that! And I thought we were friends. Friends do provide an emotional lift to one another. It’s why I went out with Lauren tonight. I’m not manipulating
you, Jon, and I have never given you reason to think I was stringing you along.”

“Well, you’re still not answering my question.”

“That’s because I don’t know what to say.”

“That’s a first.”

“Okay, well that was just rude. I’m hanging up now.” Irritated, I swiped the phone off. It lit up with a text message a second later.

I’m sorry. That didn’t come out the way I meant. I’m nervous, and I’m making a mess of all of this.

Making a mess of what exactly?

My feelings, he wrote. I’m obviously not handling rejection very well.

I inhaled and exhaled a deep breath knowing that my response would forever change my future. Why are you assuming you’re being rejected? And please put emphasis on the
first syllable of the word ‘assume.’

Are you saying you want to be more than friends? Has something changed?

I paused, my mind traversing over multiple memories with Jonathan Roseman. When I first met him, he was an ebony haired, goateed man in love with his first wife
while I was newly married to Rick Williams. I had become friends with Andrea while she was heavily pregnant with their youngest daughter, Rachel, and I had just
found out I was pregnant with Sophie. My daughters had worn baby clothes passed down to us from the Roseman girls. Our lives had been intertwined for nearly two
decades, just never like this.

Jon’s black hair was now predominantly silver, he wore horn rimmed glasses over his perceptive, dark eyes, and I knew his daughters weren’t the only females that
wanted to call him “Daddy.” I’d seen enough thirsty comments on his Instantpics from women of all ages.

Charlotte? he asked, are you still there?

I’m here.

You didn’t answer my question.

Are you sure? I finally wrote. I caught my reflection in my phone and grimaced.

I’m sure I don’t want you going on a singles cruise and falling in love with somebody else. I know you like direct, so how was that?

Pretty direct.

You’re still not answering.

But are you SURE?

My phone rang again, and I didn’t hesitate to pick it up.

“So, I guess you’re not still mad at me,” he began.

“I’m not sure what I am at the moment.”

“You okay?”

“Stunned is more like it.”

“Why are you stunned?” His voice was calming and gentle.

Even though he couldn’t see me, I gestured to my mismatched pajamas, hair pulled off my bare face, and curves that my daughters would call thiccc and Rick called
morbidly obese. “Jon, I mean, you could have any woman you want. I’m just…”

“You’re just what?” he cut me off. “Sensational? Gorgeous? Intimidating?”

I frowned at that last word. “Yeah, I’ve been called that before.”

“You’re not intimidating because you’re scary or unattractive, Charlotte. You’re intimidating because I have to be at the top of my game to keep up with you. You’re
smart, witty, hilarious, and if I’ve never said this before it’s because I never thought you’d let me. You’re beautiful.”

I scoffed.

“Let me repeat. You are stunningly beautiful.”

“Maybe you need a thicker prescription on your glasses.”

“Maybe you need to stop deflecting with sarcasm just because your ex was too much of a brain dead imbecile to appreciate the woman he trampled on for fifteen years.”

I chuckled. “Okay, I won’t disagree with your assessment of Rick.”

“Do you think I’m lying about the rest? That it’s impossible for a man to find you attractive just because Richard is a moron?”

“Look, I come with stretch marks and psychological damage, and contrary to your apparent high opinion of me, men my age do not find me all that attractive. They want
a cheap hook up, someone young enough to have more kids, or a supermodel. Ironically, it doesn’t matter if
they fell out of the ugly tree and got hit in the face with every
branch on the way down.”

“Well, I am a man your age, and I’m telling you I find you a lot more than just ‘attractive.’ You’re scared, Charlotte, and I want to know why.”

You know I can’t compete with Andrea,” I said with a long suffering sigh. “You loved that woman with every breath in your body. Maybe if I had never known you two as
a couple it wouldn’t be so hard, but I’ll never be able to live up to that.”

After a pause, one where I expected Jon to call off his crush, he finally said, “I’m at your house. Come outside, and let’s talk.”
